It all began with an idea….

The All American Big Band’s creation began when a few Denver-Area veterans met in late 2021 for the purpose of creating a genuine 1940s swing band. This band would be non-profit , enabling veteran organizations and other service and community events to have access to a unique ensemble that they could not normally afford to hire. Being non-profit, that Big Band that would appeal to veterans groups and other organizations. In this way, the band could play, and veterans, families and the community would benefit.

Incorporated as a 501.c.3 entity, the All American Big Band became a reality in June, 2022. Mark Stallins and Lance Christensen, two of the original founders, brought their shared joy of music and fierce dedication to the memory of United States military members to attract what is now a 18-piece orchestra, many of which are military band veterans.

Their music catalog is largely original arrangements, as played by the original bands of the 1930s-1950s. These include songs and arrangements from such artists as Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Les Brown, Harry James and others. The All American Big Band is the only band in the Denver area that focuses on period arrangements, resulting in a unique sound that provides a listening and dancing experience unlike any other. The band is a joy to both the public and the volunteer musicians who have found an opportunity to play music that not other ensemble plays.
